Reading for all generations at longtime event

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Friends of the Library offer their annual book sale again this weekend.

Group president and longtime Moses Lake librarian Glenna Bingham said sewage problems which occurred earlier in the year delayed the sale for a little while.

"We wanted to have it the first part of October, or right about that time, but we had to delay it," she said. "But that's all been resolved. People are happy about that."

The event is open for teachers and homeschoolers from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The sale is open to the public Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until 4 p.m.

Bingham estimated the sale has been in place for "40 some" years.

"The children of Moses Lake that come to the library can benefit from a good summer of reading good books," she said. "We fund all of the children's activities for the summer in conjunction with the summer reading program (with the sale)."

The books in the sale come from the donations of patrons, which come in at a very steady pace, Bingham said.

"And good books," she added. "Books for all generations, young and old. I think people like to share their books and they certainly are priced at a good price. They're happy going out of the auditorium with boxes and bags full of books."

The sale takes place in the Moses Lake Library auditorium, located downstairs.

Bingham's favorite part of the sale is meeting the people.

"I worked 35 years at the library and I have lots of friends that come in," she said. "And always talking about good books, putting a title here in somebody's ear and saying, 'You've got to read this.'"
