MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake ice rink at the Larson Recreation Center opens Friday at 3 p.m.

"Ice skating is free if you have your own skates and we provide rentals for $4," Recreation Superintendent Mark Hickok said. "The youth hockey association will be on site all weekend doing sign-ups for the upcoming hockey clinic that starts on Tuesday."

Ice skating lessons begin Nov. 26 and are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays.

For more information on ice skating lessons, contact the parks and recreation department at 509-766-9240.

Children can sign up for the youth hockey programs Friday and Saturday at the Larson Recreation Center. The Moses Lake Youth Hockey Association is offering clinics beginning Nov. 13 for youth ages 4 to 17.

For more information on youth hockey, contact Lyle Stoltman at 509-764-0614.

Adult hockey is offered Mondays from 8:20 p.m. to 10:20 p.m.

Hickok said all participants must wear appropriate hockey equipment and must be at least 18 years old. Slapshots and checking are not allowed at the rink. The program cost is $6.

An adult hockey clinic is offered Tuesday from 8:20 p.m. to 10:20 p.m. to learn the fundamentals of the sport, Hickok said. The program cost is $6. Appropriate hockey gear is required. Scrimmaging and games are not permitted.

To join an adult hockey team contact Tom Los at 509-760-2724 or visit www.moseslakehockey.com. The team will compete with other teams and engage in out-of-town tournaments, he said.

A hockey festival is slated for Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
