Victim sustained three stab wounds inflicted by stepson

MOSES LAKE - A stepson reportedly stabbed his stepfather in the back Monday morning with a pocket knife.

Joshua C. Tompkins, 19, was arrested for assault in the second degree-domestic violence after allegedly stabbing his 34-year-old stepfather in the back three times, Moses Lake Police Department Capt. Dave Ruffin said.

According to police records, the stepfather reportedly assaulted Tompkins and a physical fight ensued between the two subjects leading to the stabbing at a residence on West Lakeside Drive.

The stepfather was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment to the stab wounds.

The stab wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, Ruffin said.

It is unclear what caused the domestic dispute.
