Joyce Nadine Smith, 79

Joyce Nadine Smith, 79, of Milwaukie, Ore., passed away Saturday, Nov.10, 2007, at her home.

Joyce was born April 15, 1928, in Thompson Falls, to Gladys and Tracy Johnston. She attended schools in Thompson Falls, Plains and Kalispell, graduating from Flathead County High School in 1946.

She married James A. Smith in 1947, divorcing him in 1952, and marrying Ray McMillan in 1953 whom she divorced in 1977 then marrying James A. Smith again in 1978 and moved to Milwaukie, where James survives her.

Joyce was a homemaker and part time clerk at J.C. Penny and Hillstead's in Kalispell.

She enjoyed embroidery, cooking, gardening, watching old movies and following NBA games especially the Portland Trailblazers. She loved her family, Christmas time and going to the beach in Oregon.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and her sister, Tryn Barnes.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Milwaukie; her daughter, Cheryl Amundson and her husband, Arvin, of Kalispell; her son, Robert Shane McMillan and his wife, Christine, of Milwaukie; three grandchildren, Kimberly Plum, Christopher Amundson and Stacy Atkinson; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Ethan and Brooklyn Plum; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Joyce will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
