Event marks first data center 'built from ground up'

QUINCY - Quincy residents get to toast the opening of the latest data center to become operational in their midst.

Yahoo! Inc., hosts an invitation-only ribbon-cutting celebration to mark the opening of its Quincy data center, located at 1010 Yahoo Way, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Yahoo! Inc. Community Relations Manager Lisa Karstetter said 150 people are expected at the celebration.

The company hopes "for everyone to see the wonderful facility that DPR/Fortis built for Yahoo! and to enjoy the afternoon … Yahoo! style," Karstetter said.

"This is actually our first data center that we've built from the ground up and we are excited to show it off," she continued. "We are also excited about being in Quincy and having the opportunity to involve ourselves in Grant County."
