Big Bend volleyball falls at Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA - The Big Bend Community College volleyball team fell to 1-5 in conference play, losing a four-game decision to the Walla Walla Warriors last Friday.

Walla Walla earned a 30-24, 26-30, 30-24, 30-23 victory, moving its Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges record to 5-1. Columbia Basin continues to lead the NWAACC Eastern Region with a 5-0 record. Big Bend is tied with Blue Mountain and Wenatchee Valley at 1-5, and the Vikings will have a chance to move up in the standings Wednesday when they host Blue Mountain at 6 p.m.

Against Walla Walla, Malorie Clark led Big Bend with 14 kills. Laura Tinnell tied for the match high with 23 assists and added 13 digs and five aces. Jhenesis Garza (20), Ali Walen (11) and Niki Forsberg (10) all finished with double-digit digs, and Kaitie Poston had a match-high 12 blocks for the Vikings.

Amanda Grumbach led the Warriors with 15 aces and teammate Danielle Porter had a match-high 30 digs.
