Man arrested near Grand Coulee Dam

QUINCY - Law enforcement engaged in a nearly two-hours long vehicle pursuit throughout Grant County.

Law enforcement eventually made an arrest Tuesday morning.

At approximately 3:20 a.m., a Quincy police officer responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle blocking two other vehicles on F Street Southwest in Quincy, according to the Quincy Police.

Once the officer arrived, the blocking vehicle fled, police reported. A witness at the scene reportedly advised the blocking vehicle had run another vehicle off the road.

The officer reportedly made a U-turn to attempt to stop the suspect vehicle from leaving but was not successful, Quincy Police reported.

The pursuit left the city limits northbound on Road P Northwest. The chase went up through Monument Hill Road and made his way to Grand Coulee after coming back onto state Route 2.

"The guy took all the back roads and was stopped up in Grand Coulee," said Grant County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Turley. "It was Quincy's, we just assisted with it."

The nearly two-hour pursuit ended near Grand Coulee Dam, according to Quincy Police.

Two spike strips were deployed. One flattened the tires, according to Turley. The driver continued on rims until the vehicle came to a stop.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, Hector Leon Vivanco, 33, was arrested for attempting to elude police and driving with a suspended license.

Additional charges are pending and the incident remains under investigation.

The Quincy Police Department is asking for the witness interviewed at the scene to contact the police department at 509-787-4718.

Several law enforcement agencies assisted with the incident including the Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Coulee City Police Department.
