Teacher allegedly engaged in inappropriate activities

SOAP LAKE - The Soap Lake School District confirmed a teacher was caught doing something inappropriate but it was not having sex with a student on school property.

It is rumored a Soap Lake School District female teacher was put on paid administrative leave after being discovered with a male student in a compromising position in a school weight room.

School District Superintendent John Adkins said he knows nothing about an incident involving a teacher and a student.

"There was a staff member who was discovered at the school with another adult," Soap Lake Police Department Chief Jim Dorris said. "What they were doing wasn't proper but it wasn't anything unlawful. There was no criminal activity."

He did not release the names of the two individuals because the incident was not criminal.

When Adkins was asked if he knew about a staff member who was caught doing something inappropriate with another adult on school property, he declined to comment.

He did not want to release the staff member's name. He declined to confirm if the staff member was disciplined and did not release any other details of the incident.

Soap Lake High School Principal Dan Andrews declined to comment about the incident.

"I've been advised I cannot talk about that," he said.
