Girls do well at tourney

Bonners Ferry Volleyball team lost to Priest River on Sept. 13.

Match scores were 23-25, 14-25, 20-25.

On Saturday, the Badgers bounced back.

"The Badger girls had a great opportunity to play many matches in one day during a Sept. 15 pool play," coach Janis Tucker said.

Bonners Ferry defeated Lakeland 25-21 and 25-16. The Badgers then fell to Colville 13-25 and 16-25.

In the junior varsity game against Lakeland, Bonners Ferry won 18-25, 25-14 and 15-8. The Badgers lost 10-25 and 16-25 to LoJolla and split with Pullman, 16-25 and 20-15.

During Saturday's tourney, Badger Kristina Turpin had 20 assists, and Hayley Olson added 28 assists. Ashley Winkelseth had 22 kills and Hannah Cady added 12 kills. Michaela Dirks had eight ace serves.

"The Badgers continually improve," Tucker said.
