Lady Vikes split two conference matches

MOSES LAKE - Kaitie Poston led Big Bend Community College with 12 kills as the Lady Vikings knocked off the Grays Harbor Gulls on Saturday night.

The 30-8, 30-21, 30-15 victory was the Vikings' first of the season in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges play. Big Bend stands at 1-3, three games back of co-conference leaders Columbia Basin and Spokane.

Mandy Peone had 21 assists and Laura Tinnell added 15 assists for Big Bend in the win. Kortney Klein served six aces and Niki Forsberg added four more.

Friday night, the Vikings dropped a three-game decision to Treasure Valley, with the visiting Chukars winning 30-13, 30-17, 30-22.

Treasure Valley's Alicin German had a match-high 11 kills and three blocks. Vanessa Gomez had 18 digs, with Allison Courter and Tara Alvarado each getting 16. Brooke Fahnestock had 35 assists for the Chukars.

Big Bend's leaders included Natalie Lindley (12 digs) and Poston (three blocks).

The Lady Vikings return to action on Wednesday, hosting Yakima Valley at 6 p.m. They'll travel to Walla Walla on Friday, another 6 p.m. start.
