Returning Badger lettermen head up golf team

Chad Deitz is counting on his twin sons and one additional player to lead this year's Bonners Ferry High School Golf Team.
Juniors Dillon and Derek Deitz and sophomore Carey Reynolds are the team's only returning lettermen.
“They played pretty solid last year and ended up playing in the summer time,” said coach Chad Deitz. “I am relying on them to carry us.”
The Badgers placed second in the Intermountain League and won the 3A District Tourney last year. They then went to the state championships, but didn't score low enough to compete.
The team lost standouts, Taylor Garbutt and Trevor Koberstien, who both moved after last year's season.
The varsity team will consist of five players who haven't been chosen yet.
This year Deitz also has one freshman female golfer, Isabella Orr.
“Hopefully in a couple years she will be able to compete in the higher division,” he said.
Deitz is pleased with having such a young team and has high hopes for them.
“It is something to keep building the program with,” he said. “The goal is always to get to state.”
