Gerald R. Osler, 87,

passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Eureka, of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 25, 1920, on a ranch near Denton, the son of Laura and Earl Osler. The family purchased a ranch in 1936 in the Trego area, where they still reside.

Gerald, along with five brothers, was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. Gerald served for 32 months in Africa. When he returned from the service he married Gloria Kline on Jan. 25, 1946, in Kalispell. She survives him after 62 years of marriage.

Gerald liked to hunt, fish, play baseball and cribbage, but most of all he loved the large family of his own and those of his brothers and their families.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria, at the family home in Trego; his sons, Rod Osler and wife Nancy of Kalispell, Brad Osler and wife, Emilene, of Belgrade, and Scott Osler and wife, Tracy, of Kalispell; daughters, Sandra Osler of Fortine, and Jill and Dan Roe of Kalispell; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Osler; Wylie and wife, Bev, Ervin and wife, Norma, and John and wife, Barb, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Glen and Philip; a granddaughter, Regena Knight; and a grandson, Toby Osler.

At his request his body has been cremated by the Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish and no public services will be held.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be sent to: Eureka Mountain View Manor, P.O. Box 327, c/o the Bus Fund, Eureka, MT 59917.
