Man treated for shotgun wounds

WARDEN - Warden police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting where a man was injured with a shotgun.

Police advised of hearing gunshots fired in the area of South Jackson Street, Police Chief Ken Krebs stated to the Columbia Basin Herald Monday afternoon.

When police responded to the area they saw a truck leaving the scene, according to Krebs. After failing to stop for officers and ignoring stop signs, the truck eventually stopped at South Adams Street where the five occupants fled from the vehicle.

Police stopped all five occupants and made one arrest, the chief noted.

Antonio L. Cruz, 32, was arrested for outstanding warrants and an injured man was treated at the scene by Grant County Fire District No. 4 for injuries sustained by a shotgun, Krebs stated.

"He was wounded with shotgun pellets from his chest to his ankles," he noted.

The male was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for further treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police have a person of interest who may be the shooter, Krebs added.
