Threats reportedly made with knife
MOSES LAKE - A male was arrested Saturday night after allegedly making threats against a citizen with a knife and threatening a police officer.
Michael R. Burghard, 20, was arrested on Western Avenue for assault in the second degree, intimidating a public servant, driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing and attempted malicious mischief in the second degree.
The incident began in McCosh Park where Burghard was reportedly fighting with an unidentified person, Police Capt. Dave Ruffin said. A third person attempted to intervene in an effort to stop the fight.
Burghard allegedly threatened the intervening person with a knife and fled the scene in a 1996 Honda Accord, Ruffin said.
Police located Burghard on Western Avenue where he reportedly threatened a police officer, he said. After Burghard was apprehended he allegedly threatened to kick the door to the patrol car.
It is unclear how the initial fight began.
