WENATCHEE - Moses Lake varsity baseball saw the boys splitting a doubleheader at Recreation Field on Friday. The Chiefs fell to the Panthers by a score of 9-3 in the first game.

"A combination of us not hitting well and them hitting everything we threw at them" Chiefs coach Ed McNamara said was among the reasons for the lopsided score.

"We also had too many miscues in the outfield which led to runs that scored," he said.

Starting pitcher Drew Martin was replaced in the fifth inning by Troy Stevens. At the plate for the Chiefs, Josh Martinez was 1-4, Blaine Meyers was 2-3 and Troy Stephens was 1-1, each with an RBI.

The Chiefs turned things around and defeated the Panthers by a score of 9-7 in the second game. Moses Lake scored five runs in the first inning.

"We came out and hit the ball much better," McNamara said.

Chiefs starting pitcher Brock Lybbert was replaced in fifth inning by Blaine Meyers, who McNamara never lost faith in.

"Blaine was in a couple of jams but got out of them unscathed," he said.

Troy Stephens came in relief in both games and did a "great job" McNamara said.

At the plate for Moses Lake, Aaron Morice was 2-3, Blaine Myers was 2-4 with three RBIs and Brock Lybbert was 1-3 with two RBIs.

Blaine Myers was offensive player of the day going 4-7 with three RBIs.
