Axle Jordan Streitz died on July 29th, 2008 in Wanzhou District, Chongqing, PRC. Axle was born in Butte, Mont. on January 28, 2007. Axle was best known for his energetic and bold personality. Axle touched many lives and will hold a special place in our hearts. There was a passion within Axle that can't be described or duplicated. He was determined like no other and always knew what he wanted, whether he could have it or not. Axle is survived by his older Sister Sydnee Jaye Streitz, Mother Jana Lynn Streitz, Father Jacob Aaron Streitz, Grandparents Joe and Dianna Smith, Grandparents Dave and Mary Kay Streitz, Great Grandparents Billie Mae Jackson, Gussie Smith, and Margaret Streitz. A gathering will take place at the McDonald Center in Pablo on Friday August 8 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow the service in the Ronan Cemetery along with a ceremonial dinner at the Round Butte Club House.
During the burial attendees will have the opportunity to place a farewell wish or memento in Axle's casket for his next adventure. Jake and Jana have requested that in lieu of personal gifts or flowers, donations to the Mariah's Challenge Scholarship Fund may be made in Axle's name. Information about the fund can be found at www.mariahschallenge.com. There will be a drop box located at the church to receive the donations.

Gramm
Edith Wallace Gramm
1928-2008
Edith Wallace Gramm passed away on July 31, 2008 in Polson. She was born and raised in Broadus, Mont., on August 18, 1928. She moved to Missoula in 1945 and later met her husband, Marvin Williams Gramm. They were married on December 9, 1949. They lived in Missoula where she managed the bookkeeping for the construction company she and Marvin started and ran for 30 years. She also worked as a real estate agent during the 1970's. In 1984, they retired to their lake home that they built in Queens Bay on Flathead Lake, Polson.
Edith is survived by her husband, Marvin William Gramm; her two sons, Michael Wayne Gramm and Dale Wallace Gramm (Duskie) both of Missoula; Grandchildren, Nikole Gramm, Ryan Gramm, Kayla Gramm, and Ranie Gramm; step-grandchildren, Jasmine Donathan, Kristi Gramm and Scot Gramm; Sister, Minnie Hulford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service with a reception to follow the graveside on Friday August 8, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery.
Bennefield
Michael Bennefield, 61, passed away at his residence today, August 4, 2008 .
Funeral services are pending with Foster Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Ignatius.
Robertson
Fern Robertson, 83, of Ronan, passed away July 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson of natural causes. Fern was born January 15, 1925 in Chicago, to William and Elsie Cashman. After high school, she worked for Commonwealth Edison Company in Chicago for several years before heading west in the summer of 1948 to work on the Clark Guest Ranch in McLeod, Mont. Shortly after returning to Chicago that fall, she acted on a suggestion by a former teacher and returned to Montana to work on the ranch of Ike and Pearl Robertson near Ronan. While there she met Daurice Robertson and they were married December 10, 1948.
Daurice and Fern ranched in the Round Butte community until Daurice's untimely death in April 1965. Fern and the children moved to town and she went to work as a bookkeeper at Consolidated Grain Elevators and later as clerk and manager of the Montana State Liquor Store. In 1967 she married Bill Lundstrom, and although later divorced, they remained friends until her passing.
Fern retired from the state liquor store in 1997. Her days on the ranch were spent in her vegetable garden, doing crossword puzzles and in the fall making her wonderful applesauce.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ray Cashman and husband Daurice.
She is survived by son Dan Robertson and his wife Jan of Park City, Utah; daughter Diane Robertson of Spokane, Wash.; daughter Eileen Robertson of Ronan; grandchildren Todd Robertson, Darren Robertson, Amy Robertson, Erica Luedtke-Bell and her husband Brad, Erron Luedtke, and five great-grand children. She is also survived by brother Bill Cashman and his wife Jean of Hereford, Ariz.; friend Bill Lundstrom of Ronan and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Fern will be held Saturday, August 9 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 406 5th Avenue SW in Ronan with Pastor Rand Drollman officiating. A reception/lunch will follow in the church basement. Shrider-Thompson Funeral Services of Ronan are handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Fern's name to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter, 36251 N. Reservoir Road, Polson, Mont. 59860.
Thomas
The memorial for Juanita Thomas, who passed away on July 13th, will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 1:00 PM, at the New Life Christian Center, 1414 2nd Street West (just before the High School), Polson.
Syverson
Keith Wilson Syverson, age 74 of Bigfork, passed away from natural causes on Monday July 28, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital. Keith was born at Valley City, N.D. to Paul A. and Bessie Syverson on June 27, 1934. His grandparents homesteaded in Belmont, north of Billings. He attended schools in Hot Springs and Polson. As a young man, Keith worked in logging camps on the North Fork of the Flathead River and in lookouts for the US Forest Service. He served in the US Army in Germany where he met Kathe, his wife. After his honorable discharge in 1963, he returned to Montana and began a 29-year career with Pacific Power & Light as an operator dispatcher. His father and mother preceded him in death. His wife Kathe, sons Mike and Mark and daughter-in-law Noorjahan and his brother Paul N. Syverson survive Keith. According to Keith's wishes, cremation will take place and no services are planned. Cremation will be under the care of Grogan Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.groganfuneralhome.com.
Mix
Bernice Iris Mix, age 89 of Missoula, formerly of Polson, went to be with her Heavenly Father as she was surrounded by her family on Monday July 28, 2008 at the Village Health Care Center at Missoula. Born to Armeda and Carl Shaw, Bernice was raised on farms at Fort Benton and Great Falls, Montana. Bernice married George Tyler Mix on January 20, 1947 at Kalispell. She moved to Polson in 1957 where she lived until 2007. Bernice enjoyed the last year and a half at the Village Health Center where she had wonderful care, made many friends and enjoyed many activities. She loved little dogs; she was full of compassion and enjoyed giving candy to the nurses and all who came to visit her. Bernice loved being with family and going out to lunch. Her husband in 1992, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, her parents and a son-in-law, Gale Hires, preceded her in death. Bernice is survived by her 3 children; Pat (Jerry) Fisher, Nancy (Clark) Fiorentino, Dan (Sylvia) Mix, all of Polson, 4 step-children Norman (Lois) Mix of Kennewick, Wash., Roy (Bev) Mix of Missoula, Ada Hires of Longmont, Colo., David Kemp of Helena, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation was held on Wednesday July 30, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Grogan Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Thursday July 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grogan Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Mix officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery with grave dedication by Bishop Gordon Terry officiating. A reception followed the services at the LDS Church.
