Auditor’s suggestions being implemented

EPHRATA — Grant County PUD received a clean audit for 2007 from the Washington State Auditor’s Office, the utility announced this week.

No warning-management letters or findings were reported, said Grant PUD Commissioner Bob Bernd. He attended the exit interview with the state agency where the month-long audit was discussed.

The audit examined whether the PUD followed laws and regulations regarding the use of public resources.

“They were very complimentary of the district and of what we’re doing,” Bernd said.

The auditor’s office made some recommendations, some of which the utility started, he said.

Commissioner Tom Flint said the audit is most certainly a better report than the utility received a few years ago.

Flint also called the most recent audit a milestone because the utility didn’t receive any findings or management letters.

The state recommended the PUD create and take an inventory of all cameras and photography equipment; continue efforts to establish a formal internal audit function; create a tracking system for late contract proposals; obtain income and expense documentation from the Port of Quincy for the lease contract; document fuel usage at central fueling stations and improve monitoring of prevailing wage certificates.
