MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Pirates failed to defend their 2007 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League championship this season.

While the 2008 season saw the Pirates fall to 13-29 and finish 10 games out of first place, there were upsides to the season.

Moses Lake outfielder Dane Yelovich was relentless on the base path, leading the WCCBL in stolen bases with 23. Yelovich also led the league in stolen base attempts with 32.

Pirates outfielder Ty Rubio was a baseball magnet, leading the WCCBL in hit by pitches with 17.

The Pirates pitchers were not dominating on the mound this season, but they were intimidating.

Starting pitcher A.J. Morris led the WCCBL in strikeouts with 57 and starting pitcher Mike McCarthy was second in strikeouts with 54.

Season tickets for the 2009 WCCBL season are available on the Pirates Web site. The Moses Lake Pirates are currently offering sponsorship packages for the 2009 WCCBL season.
