MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake High School football team got an extra boost for the 2008 season when Brian Dano took the reins of the Chiefs QB Club in June.

This is the first season the parent-driven club will be in existence, Dano said.

"Coach Kittrell put the bait out there for a number of years. No one took it, so I did," Dano said.

Dano said the club is comprised of 20 couples and the club is limiting membership to parents of players and anyone with a firm interest in the Moses Lake football program.

The primary purposes of the newly founded club is to develop parental camaraderie with the coaching staff and help the football program with equipment needs which can't be met with school resources, Dano said.

The Chiefs QB Club is working to raise funds for a new video system to tape Moses Lake football games.

"The Chiefs have a new field and new stands," he said. "It's time we get that truck out of there."

Dano said the most difficult aspect of starting the Chiefs QB Club is getting memberships solidified.

"The hardest part is getting the word out to parents in a way that sparks their interest," he said. "To me the most important thing would be to have most of the parents belong."

Dano said he wants the Chiefs QB Club to help unite the parents to support the football program.

"The kids are already a team," he said. "The parents up until now just watched their kids. I would like to have the parents get to know each other."

The Chiefs QB Club is led by President Dano, Vice President Brett Hill and Secretary and Treasurer Jennifer Charpentier.

The Moses Lake Chiefs open the 2008 high school season Sept. 4 at Hanford.
