BURLINGTON, Wash., - Twelve-year-old Jessica Kalles of Moses Lake girl died in a motorcycle collision Sunday morning in Skagit County.

The girl was riding with her 54-year-old father, Bill Kalles, at the time of the collision, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Bill Kalles and his daughter were reportedly traveling eastbound on state Route 20, east of Avon Allen Road on a 2000 Yamaha XVS65A, the state patrol reported. The motorcycle reportedly crossed the centerline into westbound traffic and collided head-on with a 2002 Dodge Caravan.

The Dodge Caravan reportedly struck Jessica Kalles, the state patrol reported. She was pronounced dead at Skagit Valley Hospital.

Bill Kalles was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. According to medical staff, he was in the intensive care unit Monday afternoon. His medical status was not available.

Bill and Jessica Kalles were wearing helmets at the time of the collision and drugs and alcohol were not involved, the state patrol reported.

The collision was allegedly due to the father crossing the centerline, according to the state patrol. The incident is under investigation.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan, Frances O. Carter, 82, Bow, Wash., was reportedly not injured, according to the state patrol.

Debris from the collision reportedly struck a westbound 2003 GMC Yukon driven by Lisa M. Atkinson, 36, Bow, Wash., but she was not injured.

The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene. The Dodge Caravan was impounded from the scene and the GMC Yukon did not have reportable damage, the state patrol reported.
