EPHRATA - The Ephrata Raceway Park played host to the Northwest Outlaw Street Stocks series (NWOSS) Saturday night as the series made its second stop of the season at the speedway.
Series leader and race winner Dave Lund dashed local racer Michael Knutson's hopes of a sweep at the track this season as Knutson could only muster a third place finish in the Pepsi-Cola 75 race.
Veteran driver Mike Easly settled for a second place finish rather than using the bump-and-run technique to overtake Lund.
Track announcer Kelly Hart said Easly set a great example.
"The veteran did a great job and proved that sportsmanship takes precedence over dumping the leader," Hart said "He set an example for racers and fans."
In local action, the big cars took to the oval in an action-packed race that brought the fans to their feet as drivers tried to push a tractor tire around a wet track and across the finish line.
Billy Smith managed to jam the tire under his race car and crossed the finish line, winning the soccer event.
Racing action continues this weekend as the Ephrata Raceway Park hosts the WMRA Midgets, Wingless 360 Sprints, the Golden Wheels and Vintage Racers, and the Kim Janke State Farm Agent Youth Hornets events.
