Huskies roll to tournament title

OTHELLO — The Othello Huskies wrestling team took advantage of three champions Saturday afternoon to win the Leonard Shutte Wrestling tournament at Othello High School.
Othello’s first champion came at 140 pounds when Reuben Lopez pinned Washougal’s Brendan Casey in 22 seconds.
The Huskies continued to work toward the team title at 160 pounds when Amando DeLeon earned a 14-3 major decision victory of D.J. McCourt of Washougal.
Othello’s final champion came in the 215-pound weight class when Joey Gomez defeated Mike Flores of Southridge 12-5.

Tigers finish third at Ephrata Invite
EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers clawed their way to a third place finish Saturday at the Ephrata Invitational wrestling tournament, sending five wrestlers to championship matches.
The Tigers came away with two individual champions in Anthony Bush and Quinton Hendrickson.
Bush won his title at 125 pounds when he punned Cashmere’s Chris Chapman in 1:04.
Ephrata’s second champion came at 152 pounds when Hendrickson defeated Tim Haynes of Medical Lake 7-5.
