Warden slips past Chelan

WARDEN — The Warden Cougars wrestling team took advantage of three pins Tuesday night to defeat the visiting Chelan Goats 33-29 at Warden High School.
The Cougars and Goats split the 14 matches, with each team winning seven. However, Warden won three matches by pin and another by forfeit to distance themselves from Chelan and earn the 4-point victory.
Warden won matches in three consecutive weight classes to help defeat Chelan. The first coming when Jose Gonzalez pinned Cole Soreans at 171 pounds in 2:22.
Following Gonzalez’s pin, Dakota Scott defeated Davey Anderson 3-1 at 189 pounds and Issac DeLeon left little doubt in his match at 215 pounds when he pinned Arnie Lopez in 29 seconds.
Warden's third and final pin came when Chris Kalous pinned Gage Henry in 1:35 in their 135-pound weight class match.
Ruben Martinez earned the forfeit for Warden at 103 pounds.
The Cougars return to the wrestling mat tonight when they travel to River View High School.
The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
