MOSES LAKE – After leading the Moses Lake Christian Academy girls volleyball team to a second-place finish at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) 1B state tournament, senior Esther Timofeyev continues to make headlines.
Timofeyev was selected to the 1B All-State volleyball team Sunday and earned 1B volleyball player of the year honors for the Lady Lions of Moses Lake Christian.
She said she appreciates the selection.
“It’s quite an accomplishment,” she said. “I am pretty excited.”
Timofeyev led the Lady Lions to an 11-1 North Central Washington league record and the league championship.
With her dominating play at the net, the North Central Washington league coaches voted Timofeyev the league’s most valuable player.
Timofeyev led the Lady Lions to the 2008 WIAA 1B state tournament in Yakima. She led her team through the winner’s bracket and into the tournament’s championship match.
Moses Lake Christian head coach Dean Spurbeck said Timofeyev deserved the award.
“I definitely that she was the best girl state,” he said.
