OTHELLO –?The Othello Huskies volleyball team continued its impressive 2008 season when senior Allison Walker was selected to the 2A All-State second team Sunday.
Othello head coach Steve Parris said Walker deserves her selection.
“She is a fantastic athlete,” he said. “She has worked very hard and she deserves every award she gets.”
Walker was a three-time All-Central Washington Athletic Conference selection in her career at Othello and helped lead the Huskies to their first Washington Interscholastic Activities Association volleyball tournament.
Parris said his senior star played a significant role in Othello advancing to the state tournament.
“She was a big part of it,” he said. “She goes out there and does the best she can to improve.”
The Huskies fell in three games to the Lynden Lions in the first round and were eliminated from the tournament in three games by Mark Morris High School.
Walker will take her skills to the collegiate level at the University of Idaho. She signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball next season for the Vandals.
Parris said it was a pleasure coaching Walker at Othello High School.
“She is a very compassionate young lady,” he said. “She played on varsity for four years. We will miss her a lot.”
