OTHELLO — The Othello Wrestling Club will host the Little Guy Wrestling Tournament this Saturday at Othello High School.
The tournament is open for participants in eighth grade and younger, Othello wrestling coach Ruben Martinez said.
Participants as young as three years old may compete, Martinez said.
The Little Guy tournament will provide youth wrestlers with an opportunity to compete before the before season begins.
“Locally this is one of the last tournaments before the season starts for this age group,” he said. “It is an opportunity for some of these kids to get some of the wrinkles out before the season.”
Registration for the tournament is $10 and participants must fill out a waiver to compete.
The tournament is a collegiate style event with weigh ins beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until 9:30 a.m.
Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m. and last into the afternoon.
While Martinez said there will not be guaranteed matches, exhibition matches will be available.
“It provides kids an opportunity to compete,” he said. “There will be exhibition opportunities for kids to wrestle others in different weight classes and age groups.”
For more information contact Martinez at 509-331-8898.
