A Bonners Ferry man, who faces life in a prison for lewd conduct with a 15-year-old, pled guilty on Jan. 28.

In exchange for his plea, Robert T. Mackey, 20, had other related charges against him dismissed.

Mackey was originally charged with three counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 and one crime against nature, all felonies, for the incidents on Aug. 10 through 13 with the girl, according to court records.

Lewd conduct is any unlawful act committed by an individual with the purpose of arousing one's sexual interest.

Another term of the deal is that Mackey can only be sentenced up to 8 years. He will also have to do a pyscho-sexual evaluation and do any treatment recommended by the court.

Without the plea agreement, Mackey could serve up to life in prison for one lewd conduct charge, according to court documents.

He will have to register as a sexual offender.

Mackey will be sentenced 11 a.m. March 25 at the Boundary County Courthouse.
