Snow portage

Kane Tharp of Whitefish hauls a canoe across a frozen and snow-covered Whitefish Lake en route to a canoe trip down the Whitefish River on Monday afternoon.Tharp and two friends, Brian Bushell and Dave Heckman, paddled the river from the lake to the Montana 40 bridge. The trio said it is an annual tradition to paddle the river in the winter.
