Thomas Guerrero, 69, passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Feb. 15, 2008, following a courageously valiant battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Los Angeles on May 12, 1938, to J.C. and Mercedes (Gonzalez) Guerrero.
In 1958, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. Tom began a career as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in 1966 and continued in that position until his retirement in 1992.
On March 7, 1994, he married Verla Miller. Together they enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
His interests included coaching various Little League teams, playing softball, spending countless hours at The Summit and working part time at ShopKo, all of which gave him the opportunity to make many special friends. He had a fervent passion for the L.A. Dodgers and had established quite a following for the annual Lilac Bloomsday Run in Spokane.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters and an infant granddaughter.
He is survived by three sons, T. Kevin Guerrero, wife Heather, and daughters, Hannah and Holly, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Vincent Guerrero, wife Samantha, and children, Kiah, Skyler and Zoe, of Kalispell; D.J. Guerrero, also of Kalispell; two stepsons, Doug Miller, wife Cindy, and children, Amanda Koenig, Erica and Ben; Russ Miller, wife Janice, and sons, Jody and Austin; his stepdaughter, Lori Ness, husband Jim, and daughter, Jaymie, all of Kalispell; one brother, Edward Guerrero, and wife Murial, of Federal Way, Wash.; two sisters, Rachel Rivas of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Celia Guerrero of Monterey Park, Calif.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
