WENATCHEE - The Soap Lake girls basketball team extended its season by at least one game, winning a loser-out North Central League playoff game over the Kittitas Coyotes on Monday night.

The Eagles got 18 points from Michelle Marthini and 15 points from Ariel Wernex to beat Kittitas 58-38 at Wenatchee High School, ending the Coyotes' season in the process.

Soap Lake will need to win three more games in a row to reach the 2B state tournament. The Eagles play again tonight in Wenatchee against Bridgeport, a 57-29 loser to Liberty Bell on Monday. The winner of Wednesday's game must beat Liberty Bell, one of the state's top 10 teams, twice to reach state.
