Senior Ashley Winkelseth led the Badgers to a 65-55 victory over Liberty, Wash., with 19 points during the Freeman Tournament on Dec. 27.
Badger Samantha Kelly added 13 points.
"Sam Kelly shot very well (in) the first half, and Ashley Winkelseth also had a nice game," said head coach Travis Hinthorn. "They scored a lot of points for us."
Kelly also got five defensive rebounds with Camile Robertson, and Caitlin Clausen added four. Sister Sam and Erin Hiatt both led with six assists.
In a 43-34 loss against Tonasket, senior Alicia Hedrick led the team with 11 points. Winkelseth added 10 points.
"We jumped out to a 12-6 lead," said Hinthorn." After Tonasket figured out how to break our press, we had a hard time scoring in half court offense."
Hedrick also led with nine rebounds with Robertson added seven. Sam Hiatt led with eight steals and Kelly added three.
"We are better than we were at the beginning (of the season)," Hinthorn said. "We just are not playing four (good) quarters in a row. We are getting two or three good quarters but we lose our focus here and there."
