In two home games that came down to the final seconds, the Lady Loggers beat Glacier, 40-37 Saturday, but lost by a basket Thursday to an undefeated Bigfork, 41-43.

"I had some really disappointed kids after the game," said Lady Loggers coach Jim May, referring to Bigfork. "But I really think that these girls will respond positively to this. It'll make us better."

And respond they did; Libby kept the Wolfpack at bay throughout Saturday's game - leading by ten at the half, 28-18.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Loggers fought off a 13-7 Glacier comeback, who got within two points of Libby before Brooke Hageness made a free throw with 16 seconds left, widening the gap to its final three points.

Jackie Mee led all scorers in Saturday's game with 18 points.

In another game that went down to the wire, a basket was the difference in Libby's loss to Bigfork, 41-43.

May said there wasn't any one factor contributing to their defeat.

"We had them pretty well scouted and pretty well paired - a good game plan that we executed most of the time," he said. "There were a lot of story lines that could have been different - a rebound here, a basket there."

Brittany Martin led in scoring for Libby with 14 points, four of them 3-pointers.

Jackie Mee was held to 13 points, who entered the game as the league's leading scorer with an average of 20.1 points.

For Bigfork, Roxy Thurman led in scoring with 23 points, with Hattie Bowen contributing 8.

Bigfork defeated the Lady Loggers earlier in the season by 15 points, a marked improvement for Libby, currently 7-4.

"Overall, I was really proud of the good things we did to give ourselves the opportunity to be in a position to win the game," said May. "Every game we play reveals things we need to work on."
