In the third and final leg on the road, the JV Lady Loggers prevailed against Eureka, winning 35-26 and reversing a losing streak, which began at home against Bigfork.

Offensive lulls in the 1st and 3rd quarters cost the JV Lady Loggers the 33-20 the Jan. 17 game, according to coach Jon England.

Although they closed the gap in the 2nd quarter to 5, it was as close as they got and wasn't enough to clinch the win.

"Nicole Rios is starting to put together some good games for us," said England.

Against Glacier the 19th, the Lady Loggers suffered an even bigger blow, 45-18.

"We played pretty well in the first half, but Glacier scored 17 straight points in the 3rd quarter to break it open," said England. "We have to get more output from everyone else on our team in order to be successful," he added, noting that while Glacier had 9 players score, Libby had two who scored 17 of the 18 pts.

Rios led in scoring with 9 points, while Jordan Refsland had 8.

In Whitefish on Jan. 25, the Ladies didn't fair much better, losing 20-38.

In a deja vu-like fashion, the Loggers got blitzed in the 3rd quarter by a 20-2 margin.

"We did get scoring from 8 different players but it wasn't very consistent," said England. "I wasn't very pleased with the way we defended their shooters," he said, admitting that Jessica Shaw and Kaila Forster played well down the stretch.

But the Lady Loggers turned it around on the road last weekend against Eureka, winning 35-26.

"Again, we had a good first half and rode that lead to a victory," said England. "Defensively, we played well - although we fouled them too much, and that is where they got most of their 17 points in the second half."

Avenging a 36-31 loss before Christmas, Rios and Alex Kulbeck led their team to victory with 9 points apiece.

The 4-9 Lady Loggers play today in Columbia Falls.
