Moses Lake graduate to play for East

SPOKANE - The high school football season is still months away, but that is not stopping recent high school graduates from taking the field one last time.

On the turf of the Central Valley High School stadium all-state selections from Washington will take part in Thursday's East-West All Star game, including Moses Lake High School standouts Ryan Coulston and Jarred Walker.

Coulston said he is thrilled to be able to play wide receiver again.

"I am excited to be here, I never thought I could be," Coulston said. "I really miss football, its good to be on the grass again, lacing up the cleats."

Athletes from all over the state began football camp in Spokane Sunday to prepare for the all-state game.

After finishing his high school career, Coulston is excited for the opportunity to play football with Walker again.

"There are a couple of teams that have a couple of players from each school," Coulston said. "It is cool to say that your team was good enough to have more than one."

While he is enjoying his immediate football future, Coulston is planning to go on a Mormon church mission next May.

"No schools have offered me a scholarship," Coulston said. "I am going to work until I leave in May."

Although this is his final football game, Coulston is cherishing the experience.

"It's humbling," he said." Seeing all these huge guys, knowing I'm good enough to be out here."

Coulston said the best part of the East-West game is the food.

"It is a lot of buffet stuff," Coulston said. "It's too hot to say practice is the best."
