OTHELLO - As parade entrants traveled down Main Street throwing out candy, several small children dashed around picking up as much as they could hold.

The only moment candy wasn't important was when Mickey Mouse walked by.

For a moment no one pushed or shoved. Little faces held a look of awe, and several just stood and waved as he traveled down the street.

"Mickey Mouse gave me candy," said Haylee Mann excitedly when asked her favorite part of the parade.

The town turned out for Othello's Sun Faire events, including new resident Kari Littrel.

"This is our first year here in town," said Littrel. "I grew up in a small town, and its a tradition to go down and watch the parade on the Forth of July. It's small, but it's a small town. It fits the area."

Cathy Yerena arrived late but made sure to catch the end of the parade.

"It's always really nice," she said

Following the parade at Lions Park, Cub Scout group 808 accompanied by Tom Tindell presented the flag to officially open the Fourth of July celebration.

Events continued all day including a three-on-three basketball tournament, roller-blade hockey and several scheduled entertainment groups featured on the Lion's Park main stage.
