MOSES LAKE - With the district tournament behind them, the 13U Moses Lake Babe Ruth all star team will advance to the state tournament in Ephrata Wednesday.

The 13U team finished second in the district competition with a 2-2 record and Moses Lake coach Beto Moreno said he is happy with his team's play.

"The 13U played really hard but just came up short," he said. "Hecotr Zavala played his heart out."

Moreno is optimistic about his team's chances for a state championship.

"I think we can win state if we can keep mentally in the game," he said.

League president Phil Signorelli said the 13U team is comprised of all stars from the 13U age division.

"The players themselves [are] putting their hearts into the game of baseball and representing Moses Lake with pride," he said.
