CORVALLIS - Moses Lake continued its seven-game road trip by falling prey to the Corvallis Knights over the Fourth of July weekend. The Pirates dropped all three games at Corvallis's at Goss Stadium. The Knights dominated the Pirates with defensive play, as the Pirate's continually stranded runners on base throughout the road series.

In the first game of the series, the visiting Pirates scored two runs on nine hits and committed one error, while the Knights scored four runs on seven hits and committed no errors.

Pirates pitcher Ryan Plum was credited with the loss, and the victory went to Liam Baron of Corvallis.

The Knights scored one run in the second inning and the Pirates added a run in the third. With the scored tied 1-1 in the seventh, Brock Gates of the Pirates tripled before scoring on a sacrifice. However, the Knights would respond with three runs of their own in the second to shut down the Pirates.

Moses Lake dropped the second game of the series 6-3 in a game that would last approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The Pirates scored three runs on five hits and one error, while the Knights scored six runs on eleven hits and no errors.

Moses Lake jumped out to an early 3-0 lead when Brandon Heurta, Dane Yelovich and Phillip Parrish crossed the plate in the first inning. The Pirates couldn't add to the score as Corvallis would overtake the Pirates.

Corvallis pitcher James McLauglin earned the win, and Tyler Anderson of the Pirates was credited with the loss.

In the final game of the series, the Knights squeaked past the Pirates with a 3-2 victory to complete the sweep.

The Pirates would only score two runs on five hits, while Corvallis scored three runs on nine hits.

Pirates relief pitcher Kirk Wetmore was credited with the loss.

The Pirates return to Larson Playfield Thursday for a one-game series with the Wenatchee Applesox.
