SPOKANE - The Community Colleges of Spokane named sophomore Heather Coulter the school's female scholar athlete for the month of May.

Coulter, a graduate of Moses Lake High School, is a pitcher for the CCS softball team, a business major and maintains a 3.25 grade point average.

During the 2008 season, Coulter compiled a 20-8 record with a 1.03 ERA and totaled 161 strikeouts in her 177 innings pitched. Of her 20 victories, 11 came by way of shut out, including the first perfect game in the 24-year history of the school's softball program. In her perfect game victory over Big Bend Community College, Coulter struck out 12 of the 17 batters she faced.

Coulter's ERA led the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, helping her earn first team Eastern NWAACC all star honors.
