The Bonners Ferry Thunder 14 and Under softball team will be playing in a tournament in Coeur d’ Alene on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15.
“This is going to be a good experience and a challenge for the team,” said coach Jamie Porter Sr.
The girls recently defeated Troy 23-11 and 17-10. In a doubleheader against Libby, the team beat the Loggers 11-1 and lost 16-14.
On June 7, Bonners Ferry hosted a mini one-day tournament with Priest River and Troy. They defeated Troy 13-3 and Priest River 15-2. In the final game, they lost to Troy 15-9.
“The team, which consists of 14 girls, are really learning how to play the game,” said Porter. “Everyone contributes with their hitting, defense and knowing their plays.”
