Evan Dornfeld hopes he can fill the suit as the new Buddy the Badger.

“It’s going to be hard to live up to what Cameron put in place,” said Dornfeld, a Bonners Ferry High School junior. “He was wacky and crazy, and really made Buddy that Badger who he is. He is just a great person.”

Former mascot Cameron Jeppeson graduated in June.

Dornfeld, who is the son of Steven and Holly Dornfeld, was one of two who tried out for the Badger position. He was chosen by the cheer-leading committee.

Dornfeld is excited take over.

“I really wanted to do it to show how much school spirit I have and get the other students involved that aren’t usually involved,” he said.

Being the new Badger, Dornfeld will have to give up running cross country because of conflicting schedules.

The Bad-ger attends most sporting events throughout the year.

“There are a lot of great people on the team that I really enjoy being around,” he said. “I’m going to miss it a whole lot.”

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know a lot of new people and my fellow students better,” he continued. “I definitely would like to help bring more school spirit and pride to our school. I can’t wait to help do that in a positive way.”
