Man attempts to strike deputies with stolen vehicle

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man was arrested after reportedly attempting to elude and crash into law enforcement vehicles with a stolen car Monday afternoon.

Nicolas Anthony Brice, 26, Moses Lake, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding a pursuing police vehicle, attempted vehicular assault and hit and run unattended.

A Grant County Sheriff's Office deputy reportedly saw Brice in a stolen Ford Focus at the intersection of North Stratford Road and West Knolls Vista Drive, Chief Deputy John Turley reported.

The deputy knew the vehicle was stolen from Seattle because statewide notification was issued to all law enforcement that Brice had the vehicle and was armed, Turley added.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but Brice reportedly fled toward the former Larson Air Force Base, Turley stated. He reportedly reached speeds of 90 mph. The pursuit continued throughout Grant County and the city.

Two schools near the pursuit, Larson Heights Elementary and North Elementary were placed into lockdown for protection, he noted.

"At one time during the pursuit Brice attempted to ram deputies head-on while on the narrow streets of the Larson (Air Force) Base housing. Brice eventually lost control of the vehicle and collided with a parked car (on Buell Drive)," Turley stated. "Brice fled on foot but deputies and Moses Lake police officers set a perimeter (around) the area and after a short foot chase (he) was taken into custody after minimal struggle."

Brice is a person of interest for an Adams County burglary where firearms were reported stolen from a residence, he noted. On Sunday Brice was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute where he made threats with a handgun.
