Pirates split series in Wenatchee

Pirates 4, AppleSox 3

WENATCHEE - The Moses Lake Pirates (3-8) wrapped up a two-game away series against the Wenatchee AppleSox (8-3) with a win on Wednesday at Paul Thomas Stadium.

The Pirates scored four runs on 13 hits while committing one error. The losing AppleSox scored three runs on six hits and two errors.

On the mound Moses Lake pitcher Matt Lujan was credited with the win, pitching 5.2 innings. The loss went to Wenatchee's Garrett Dorn and Nick Stiltner got the save.

At the plate Phillip Parrish homered to right field in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning Dane Yelovich and Brandon Heurta scored on a D.C. Legg single to left field. The sixth inning saw Brock Gates single to right and score on a Dane Yelovich single.

The AppleSox scored one in the fourth inning and two in the ninth, ending the three hour game stranding the tying run at third on a Jimmy Patterson ground out.

The Pirates next take on the Corvalis Knights in a three-game home stand this weekend at Larson Playfield.
