Fund-raiser dinner to follow event
MOSES LAKE- Members of the Say "Yes Lord" Ministries are hoping to create a little unity within the community.
The ministry presents a unity service Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Chief Moses Middle School, located at 1111 E. Nelson Road.
"The purpose is to bring the community together," said Pastor Randy Moore. "All different churches and all different people together, to come together and hear some gospel singing and things of that nature."
This is the first time the event has been put on.
"It was just placed upon my heart that we need to come together, this community," Moore said. "We have a lot of different churches, denominations and things of that nature in the community. Instead of everyone in their distinguished churches, we should all come together so we can meet the needs of the community. That's what I'm trying to do, is be the bridge for all other churches in the community."
Moore said he is hoping for 100 people or more to be in attendance at the unity service.
The Rev. Albert T. Wilkins, pastor of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pasco, Wash., is keynote speaker. The theme for the service is "Building Up In Christ."
Following the service, a rib and chicken dinner will be offered for donation, for a fund-raiser for the building Say "Yes Lord" Ministries is building, Moore said.
"We realize it's not going to just take a one-church effort," he said. "It's going to be a community effort to build this place of hope for people."
A success for Moore would be to have representatives from different churches and different ethnic cultures in attendance.
"All people to just come together for the occasion," he said. "Just to see everyone together, on one accord, in one place, for the same goals."
