MOSES LAKE - Larson Playfield played host to 1A district baseball playoffs Saturday. The Warden Cougars played a pair of games as they continued their march through the playoffs.

The Cougars defeated Riverview 5-4 in Warden's first game of the day. Warden scored first in the third inning followed by four in the fourth. Riverview scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh inning.

Warden's Rigo Pruneda was 2-for-4 at the plate scoring one run and Aurturo Reyes hit 2-for-3 scoring three runs.

Game two saw the Warden Cougars rout the Timberwolves of Goldendale by a score of 12-5. Warden scored 12 runs on nine hits with no errors. Goldendale scored five runs on six hits and three errors.

Warden scored one in the first, four runs in the second and Aurturo Reyes of Warden blasted an inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning, sealing the Timberwolves' fate.

Warden coach Dan Cabellero said the batters were "exploding at the right time" as they scored four runs in the second inning and five in the sixth.

Saturday's wins seed the Cougars in third place as they move to the next round of 1A playoffs to be held at Larson Playfield Friday and Saturday.
