ROYAL CITY - With the 2008 South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) East Division season completed, the Royal Knights continued their conference dominance this week.

The Knights led all SCAC East Division schools with 20 All-SCAC East selections, including eight first team picks.

Royal is 10-0 this season and the Knights are guided by SCAC East coach of the year Wiley Allred.

Royal's all-conference selections are because of the team's dedication, Allred said.

"It's a credit to a good group of kids," he said. "Individual awards are a reflection of the overall team's success."

Leading the Knights on the offensive side of the football was senior wide receiver and offensive player of the year Blair Collins.

Collins has scored 21 touchdowns this season for the top-ranked Knights and he is also the conference's leading receiver with 829 yards receiving and nine scores.

Joining Collins on the offensive first team is senior quarterback Connor Paysse and offensive linemen Jace Christensen and Tanner Freeman.

Royal is led on the defensive side of the football by first team defensive lineman Christensen. Christensen was selected the SCAC defensive player of the year.

Christensen led a Royal defense which surrendered fewer than 10 points per game as Royal cruised to the SCAC East Division title.

Collins and Freeman were also first team defensive selections along with senior linebacker Angel Ledezma.

With a potent offense and a smothering defense, the Knights are ready for a deep run into the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1A football playoffs.

The Warden Cougars had four honorable mention All-SCAC athletes in quarterback Artie Reyes, wide receiver Nathan Brown, linebacker Nate Scott and defensive back Robert Pruneda.
