Knights battle Cashmere Saturday

MOSES LAKE - The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) 1A and 2A football playoffs will come to Moses Lake and Lions Field this Saturday afternoon.

Lions Field will host the WIAA Eastern Washington playoffs beginning with the 1A semifinal at noon and the 2A semifinal at 3 p.m.

The 12-0 and defending 1A state football champion Royal Knights will take on the 11-0 Cashmere Bulldogs in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The semifinal doubleheader will conclude with the 2A game in which the Burlington-Edison Tigers take on the defending state 2A football champion Prosser Mustangs at 3 p.m.

This is the second consecutive year the Tigers will face the Mustangs in the playoffs.

The Mustangs beat the Tigers 42-7 in last year's 2A state championship game.

Tickets for Saturday's games will be available at the Lions Field gate. Admission for adults is $9 and $7 for students with ASB cards and senior citizens.

Cashmere is the home team for the 1A game and Prosser is the home team for the 2A game.

PENDELTON, Ore. — The Moses Lake wrestling team traveled to Pendelton, Ore. for the Bronco Round-Up wrestling tournament and closed out 2008 with a championship performance.
