Woman reportedly started fire in patrol car

QUINCY - A Quincy woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer and starting a fire in the patrol car Tuesday afternoon.

Jacqueline Madaline Adams, 19, was booked into Grant County Jail for assault in the third degree, arson in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing and five warrants concerning no valid driver's license, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana under 40 grams, according to Grant County Jail records.

Police officers were reportedly providing a civil standby during a property inspection at a residence on D Street Southeast, Police Chief Bill Gonzales stated Wednesday. Adams was at the residence and police discovered she had warrants.

As an officer attempted to arrest her for the warrants, she kicked him several times, he noted.

The officer was not injured.

When Adams was placed into the patrol car, she reportedly lit a paper bag on fire in the back seat, Gonzales stated. The officer reportedly noticed the fire when he smelled smoke.

As Adams was transported to the jail, she allegedly kicked the vehicle door several times, he added, noting only minor damage was done.
