MOSES LAKE - The public is invited to hear local election candidates speak about issues affecting Grant County Monday night.

The candidate forum is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Big Bend Community College in the ATEC building.

Forum organizer Bev Shuford said all opposed candidates in Grant County were invited and most confirmed they are participating.

Democratic candidate for the 4th Legislative District, George Fearing, confirmed he is attending. Congressman Doc Hastings, R-4th District, had not confirmed as of Wednesday afternoon.

Grant County Commissioner LeRoy Allison, a Republican, and opponent Carolann Swartz, also a Republican, each confirmed their attendance, Shuford said.

Non-partisan candidates Grant County PUD Commission-er Tom Flint and opponent Sam A. Johnson are attending, as well as PUD Commissioner Randy Allred and opponent Don Long.

Shuford said at the

beginning of the forum, each candidate gets three minutes to discuss any issues they chose.

The forum committee will then ask each candidate two questions, possibly three questions if time permits. Candidates have two minutes to answer the prepared questions.

The forum concludes with audience members asking candidates questions. Each candidate has two minutes to respond, she said.

The forum is sponsored by BBCC, Moses Lake Business Association, Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimist International of Moses Lake and Columbia Basin Herald.
