Mary Jane Fonner, 89, died Oct. 14, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.

She was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Rozet, Wyo., and graduated from Rozet High School.

Mary married Les Fonner on May 2, 1938, in Nebraska. In 1945, she moved to Whitefish with her husband and two children.

She was a nurse's aide at Whitefish Hospital and a member of Women of the Moose and the Presbyterian Church.

Her greatest life's pleasures were her family, cooking and painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester; parents Edward and Irean Hoxsie; son Larry Fonner; and sisters Thelma Weaver, Roycie Stok and Ethel Clark.

Mary is survived by her daughter Eleanor Whited and husband Richard; brother Lester Hoxsie; grandchildren Teri Whited Seward, Randy Whited, Leslie Fonner and Laira Fonner; and 11 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Oct. 19, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish.
