Wildcats 3, Chiefs 1

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Chiefs girls soccer team wrapped up their Columbia Basin Big Nine regular season as they hosted the Eastmont Wildcats at Lions Field Saturday afternoon.

The Saturday game was the final regular season game at home for Moses Lake as the Chiefs celebrated the dedication of the seniors and their parents before taking on the visiting Wildcats.

The emotion of senior day was not enough to lift the Chiefs to victory Saturday as Moses Lake fell to Eastmont 3-1.

The Chiefs had a week off prior to their game with Eastmont and Moses Lake head coach Ric Char was surprised with his team's level of play on Saturday afternoon.

"We didn't come out as strong as we wanted," Char said. "We got unlucky. (Eastmont) made their own opportunities."

Eastmont got on the scoreboard first when they scored in the game's 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats scored again in the 28th minute of the first half to take a 2-0 lead.

The Chiefs could not get on the board in the first half as Eastmont shut out the Chiefs.

The Wildcats opened the second half by scoring their third goal of the match three minutes into the half to take a 3-0 advantage.

Moses Lake would end Eastmont's bid for a shut out 14 minutes into the second half when freshman forward Colby Happer scored the Chiefs only goal of the match.

The Chiefs finished the match with two shots on goal, scoring on one of them.

Junior goalie Bailey Ritchie saved six of Eastmont's nine shots on goal.

Moses Lake finished the regular season with the eighth seed in the Columbia Basin Big Nine conference and will travel Kamiakin Saturday afternoon to take on the third seeded Braves in a loser-out playoff match.

Game time for the match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
